The wine formerly known as La Viña de Andrés Romeo (Romeo's father) has been renamed to show the name of the vineyard, so what I tasted was labeled as 2016 Colección Nº 1 Parcela La Liende, the same Tempranillo vineyard used from the very first vintage planted 40 years ago on poor alluvial soils. This is always a little riper—or at least that's the perception, as all the reds are generous in alcohol—and comes through as creamy and voluptuous, expressive, open and showy. I loved the nose, but the palate felt more marked by the élevage of 18 months in new barrels and the tannins might need a little more time to get polished. It's a faithful expression of the vineyard that year after year shows this character. 2,400 bottles were filled in June 2018.
